New blog!

The queue on this blog still has like 30 posts in it, but I’m switching now.

Feel free to unfollow this one. And if you do follow the new one, check the About page and make sure I’m tagging your triggers okay? Or let me know if I’m tagging things wrong.

For now there are no posts over there, since I’m gonna go ahead and mess with this blog for a little bit.

I’ve always loved space and the planets. I’ve seen a few “human planets” sets done by other artists (I saw one in particular that inspired me to start this one but I lost the link) and most of them are pretty literal in the human department. I wanted to try making something more androgynous and godlike.

The colors are all based off the planets’ true colors, and the designs are a mix of the names’ mythos and Holst’s “The Planets” suite. They get progressively less human the further they are from the Sun, which I thought was fun. :) Enjoy!! Pluto included.

mythology meme:  [1/9] deities

↳ Freyja

Freyja (Old Norse for ‘Lady’) is the goddess of love, beauty, fertility, magic, and war. She rides a chariot pulled by two cats and owns both the mythical necklace Brísingamen and a cloak made of falcon feathers.

She and her twin brother Freyr are part of the Vanir, a group of gods associated with nature and magic. In the Prose Edda, Freyr and Freyja are referred to as the most glorious of all the gods and goddesses.

Freyja is married to a god named Óðr and has two daughters with him, who are called Hnoss and Gersemi; her dwelling is called Fólkvangr and since she’s one of the Valkyries, her halls host half of those who die in battle.

politicalsexkitten:

Okay what annoys me is when multiracial/multiethnic people don’t address or acknowledge when they benefit from colorism and white-passing privilege

Yes I understand mixed folks have their own set of problems they have to deal with (like not belonging in either cultures cause they’re too _____ to be ____) but it’s completely unfair to equate your struggle with darker, mixed or non-mixed PoC who aren’t white-passing at all

We need solidarity but y’all also need to learn when it’s appropriate for you to stay out of a conversation

I’ve been on both ends of the colorism spectrum where I’ve been called ugly when I was dark and pretty cause of my paler complexion now. I know how it is and even though I’m annoyed by family always asking if I use skin bleaching products, I still get treated better because of my skin now. I acknowledge light-skin privilege and don’t try to compare racism against me as the same thing as someone of the same culture as I am but with much darker skin, cause I will always be treated better

So can we please address that colorism is such a huge and important issue in PoC communities?
